Moving to Florida
Florida is the 27th state that joined the US in 1845. The nickname of this state is the Sunshine State and it is known for its natural beauty and pleasant climate. In 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon, a Spanish explorer visited Florida during his first expedition to Europe and named it “Pascua Florida,” i.e. Feast of Flowers as a tribute to Easter celebration in Spain. The troops of the US started a war with the Native Americans in this region in the first half of the 1800s. Florida was the third state that separated from the US during the Civil war. The residents of Northern states moved to Florida to get rid of the extreme winter season at the start of the second half of the 20th century. Today in the 21st century, tourism is the main industry of Florida as millions of people visit this state every year.
